Martin Coleman Named a 2023-24 Winner of Miller Founders' Award
(ORLANDO, FL - June 4, 2024) - Hazen’s Martin Coleman was recently named a 2023-24 winner of Water For People’s Kenneth J. Miller Founders' Award.
Martin is a member of Hazen’s Water For People Committee and is an integral part of the team that has organized the Florida Section AWWA Region 3 Wine for Water event for the last several years. As Event Chair, Martin led teams of more than 30 volunteers in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Martin and his team raised $50,000 in 2022, $80,000 in 2023, and plans to exceed $90,000 during this year’s event in July. After event expenses, he and his team will have raised a net total donation of $150,000 to Water For People over the last three years.
Since joining the Hazen Workplace Giving Committee, Martin has promoted events such as the March Madness bracket challenge that has become an annual Hazen tradition and he keeps staff in Florida engaged and involved in Water For People year-round.
“The positive changes that Water For People brings to communities in the midst of the global water crisis are invaluable,” Martin explained. “Every year, I see projects that are a direct result of the tireless efforts of Water For People. From new drinking water wells and treatment to implementation of safe sanitary systems, these projects are tremendously successful by empowering local support through global partnerships. I am so proud to be a part of these positive impacts, and I am honored to be recognized for my efforts through the Miller Founders’ Award. My team and I are excited for the 2024 Wine for Water event and look forward to continued fundraising and outreach.”
Water For People is an international nonprofit working across nine countries to bring safe water and sanitation to underserved populations. Established in 2001, the Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award honors outstanding champions for their service and leadership in the advancement of Water For People's mission. This year’s awards were presented on June 4, 2024, during a virtual award ceremony.
The 2023 Wine for Water event had 350 attendees, and this year Martin and his committee are hoping the event draws over 400 guests.
