Alan Stone, PE
President
A long-standing member of Hazen’s Board, Alan was named Firm President in 2024 after previously serving as Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager. For more than three decades with Hazen, Alan has been Project Director for large, industry-leading projects such as Hampton Roads Sanitation District’s SWIFT program, the City of Raleigh’s Bioenergy Project, and numerous expansions and upgrades of the Neuse River Resource Recovery Facility. His primary area of expertise is the planning, detailed design, and construction of wastewater treatment facilities, with particular emphasis in the design of wastewater hydraulic systems, pumping facilities, preliminary treatment, and advanced wastewater nutrient removal facilities. Alan also specializes in alternative project delivery, evaluating and utilizing options including design-bid-build and CMAR.
